August 2019 - Winter Haven Chain
- Details
Gary Ford and Joe Hobson earn the Car Shop Winter Haven Sweat Box Challenge. They hit a running drain early then worked the outside edges of the pepper grass with the Carolina rig to cull up to 19.80 pounds. Our tournament directors do a great job and it's great to see them in the winners circle again. Coming in second by only .10 pounds is the team of Frank Jones and Fred Liggett. Their limit would go 19.70 pounds (for those who's math skills are lacking). Third place would go to Casey Gonzalez and Eugene Terkoski with 18.80 pounds. Our first Trophy Catch of the year was brought to the scales by the team of Steve Sapp and Gordon Guinn. She would go 10.95 pounds and take over first place for lunker of the year. Forty one teams competed and almost everyone brought a limit to the scales.

Steve and Ryan Mekdeci win the T. A. Mahoney Co. Lake Henderson Rumble. We blasted off in a rain storm but the Mekdeci's made the most out of it. The worked a worm around the outside edges of the grass to coax 15.97 pounds of bass out of this new fishery for Bay Area. They also took big fish honors with a 6.76 pound largemouth. Gary Cox and Larry Tyson take second with 11.61 pounds and third place went to Vinney Picca and Thomas Morris. We have a new dink of the year leader also. Greg Shamblin and Newt Hill set the bar high with a 12" legal bass that weighted .63 pounds. That is going to be tough to beat. Thirty eight boats traveled to the beautiful city of Inverness and 33 were rewarded with a limit of fish.

They also owned the big fish of the day with a 7.36 pounder. They went flippin. They made a milk run and hit every spot they caught fish on in the past. It worked well for them. Second place went to Brian Stillwell and Fred Haus with 18.13 pounds. Third place went to Clint Kummelman and Jared Young with 17.35 pounds. Twenty two limits crossed the scales on a very stingy Istokpoga day. Fourty boats competed.
