Jeff and Jared Crandon won the Walpole Okeechobee Shootout by finding some fish early in the residential channels. After a quick limit was secured, they went to the outside edges of the lake and took out the flippin gear. They culled all their early fish and brought in 17.02 to win. Don and Kenny Garand went down to the Ox Island area and put the frogs to use to bring in 16.11 to claim the second place prize. Third went to Carl Powers and Matt Smith who stayed in Tin House and caught 15.76 to claim third. Mike and Pam Hardy caught the lunker of the tourney on a crankbait in the river. She went 7.40. Lots of limits were brought to the scales. Congrats everyone.

The front held off and things were looking good as we headed out on the Strike King Istokpoga Bash. Charles and Chad decided to pitch the outside edges of the reeds and it wasn’t very long before they were rewarded for their efforts. When they caught their first fish of the day, you could hear the screams from all over the lake. She went 9.14 pounds and earned a trophy catch and lunker of the day. They continued to catch fish and brought 23.35 to the scales to earn the win. Tom and Bob found a swim jig bite in the newly forming hay fields. They culled up to 18.89 for second. Mike and Pam pitched their way to third with 17.04. Finally, Istokpoga showed off with lots of limits and good fish.

Gary Cox and Larry Tyson put together a nice 18.90 pound limit by casting a worm to the edges of the pads. They also caught some key fish with a wacky rigged worm. This earned them a nice first place check in the Culprit, Bass Boat Saver, Stike King Istokpoga Wild Windy Point Pile Up. Second place belonged to Team Walpole.  John and Perry Cincotta pitched a big black and blue jig to the reeds on the east side to put together a 18.61 limit. They also took big fish honors with a 8.24 pound Florida Trophy catch with that same jig. Team Crandon earned third when they put together a 15.56 bag by pitching stickbaits to the edges with a 1/8 ounce weight. It was some tough fishing but we still put together 15 limits. See you next month.
